The Iron Man Mark 42 helmet. My first fully realized Iron Man helmet. Printed, sanded, painted, and assembled.
Magnetic attachment points under the hood. Achieved by embedding chip magnets into prefab holes on the inner surfaces of the faceplate etc.
Back neckpiece is also magnetically attached. Allows for a more secure fit around the head while still being easily removable.
Certain parts don't align perfectly, resulting in a helmet that does not close fully. This flaw was due to the order in processing steps. I painted each part individually then did the final assembly without much test-fitting. The red sections should also have been glued together before painting to simplify the fitment process and reduce error, rather than gluing them after painting. This fix would additionally eliminate the white frosting on the red surfaces due to the superglue's fumes during the curing process.
All in all, a lot was learnt, and I am especially proud of the gold achieved on the faceplate.
